October 2022

Hello Members

The age of 'Covid' has created disruption to the lives of most people in one way or another and not the least, our club along with everyone else. Much of our limited activity has been turned on its head during the past few years which appears to have contributed to a temporary alienation by some members and the permanent loss of a few others, who have drifted away.

There also appears to have been some deterioration or fragmentation of members' views regarding the direction of our club, which has seemingly impacted the thoughts of some of us, with regard to the Club's future. It appears this, together with the issues the Club has been experiencing over recent times, has contributed to a decline in the level of interest of some members.
Let's all hope and endeavor to ensure the future is safer and brighter for everyone.

Going forward, efforts will be made to bolster member confidence and participation in group activities and events.

In an effort to lift member satisfaction and overall participation, the newly formed 'Committee' will focus on the Club's issues and activities to identify potential solutions and the actions needed to enhance everyone's experience as a member of the Club.

AGM - July 2022
At the meeting of 28th July 2022 a small but enthusiastic group of members formed the quorum required for our AGM. The meeting was held at Gasparo Restaurant
The main business was the election of new office bearers for the coming year.
As a result, the following positions have been taken up by the respective individuals named.

Official Office Bearers
President - Andrew Oulianoff
Vice President - Louis Mifsud
Treasurer - John Imrie
Secretary - Geof Telford

Other Office Positions
Minutes Officer - Mark Andrews
Publicity/Web Site Administrator - Geof Telford
Motorcycle/Machine Examiners - Chris Roberts, Lou Mifsud and Mark Smith

On behalf of the Club's membership broadly and particularly the incoming committee members, I would like to thank the outgoing Office Bearers, Chris Roberts (former President), Karl Saunders (former Secretary) and James Oulianoff (former Publicity/Web Site Admin), for their contributions over a protracted period and during some challenging times.

Amongst other general matters discussed, a proposal to grant Life Membership status to Lou Mifsud, was agreed at the meeting. Congratulations to Lou.
Further, as a result of a proposal by John Imrie, the meeting agreed to now grant Veteran status to all members completing ten years continuous membership. Veteran members are not required to pay for their membership. It is proposed that the veteran status will now be automatically granted from the 1st of July that follows the member’s completed ten years. Final details will be included in later information, and the first recipients under this rule will receive Veteran status from 1 July 2023.

Club Committee
In an attempt to address the club’s needs and issues, its committee will now meet on a regular basis to better manage the matters affecting the club. The present 'committee' is comprised of the Club's Official Office Bearers and the Minutes Officer, but may be expanded to a total of 7 participants to ensure our needs are met. More detail will follow in the near future, as required.
The first meeting of the 'committee' for this year, took place on Friday 7th October '22, and was attended by A.Oulianoff, J. Imrie, M. Andrews and Geof Telford. The meeting was positive and many issues and actions were identified.
Further information will be made available in the near future.

MCRC of NSW Website
The web/internet is a useful tool for the majority of members. The club will, in the immediate future, attempt to increase the content and use of the website for the delivery of club information and member participation. A link or facility to include 'facebook' access is being assessed, with the expectation of fulfilling the wishes of some members, by also utilizing this medium again.

Events Calendar
It is anticipated, that the Club's committee will restore and maintain a working events calendar for the upcoming year. It should be made available via the club's web site and, also be available directly to members who do not possess internet access.
Further details will be provided in the near future.

Save Wakefield Park
The 'Save Wakefield Park Team' advised us on the 13th October of the background details and instructions to enable our membership to register individually their support for the Wakefield Park Raceway's future, as a motor sport facility. The petition is an e-Petition with supporting details and was forwarded/circulated to MCRCNSW members on the same day (13th October). The petition has been circulated to most clubs and associations involved in motor sport activities in NSW. A total of 20.000 signatures are required as a minimum. The greater the number of signatures, the greater the persuasive power in parliament.
All recipients are asked (again) to lodge their support via the e-petition and then forward the petition details to other family and friends that may also provide support but who may not yet be aware.
The deadline for receiving signatures via the e-petition is 28th October 2022, so time is of the essence.

Breakfast Torque Event 2022
Last month we were advised by Brendan Jones (a fellow member), of the upcoming Breakfast Torque (18th Annual) Event, for 2022.The event is to held on 30th October, between 8am and 11am, at the Heathcote Oval, Wilson Parade, Heathcote NSW.
Apparently, the event will include road safety and skills demonstrations, live entertainment, motorcycle products, item displays and stalls together with a free breakfast for riders. Full details are available on the net,.... just search for..... 2022 Breakfast Torque 18th Annual.
